Emma's story
I work for the trust as a respiratory nurse. Threе years ago I was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy as I was having some routine bloods. I was in acute kidney injury and my egfr was 13 on diagnosis. It all went very quickly, after 3 months I was on peritoneal dialysis and 14 months past diagnosis I was transplanted through the sharing scheme programme.
My husband gave his kidney to help me. I will never be able to thank him and my donor enough. I don't know who the donor is, but she's definitely an amazing person! The reason why I want to do the London to Brighton is because I want to challenge myself.
I want to demonstrated that I can do it, and look after myself and the amazing kidney that I've been, so generously, given. And since I'm doing the race, I think the best thing is to give something back to SEKPA, who supports kidney patients when they need it most, and supports us going to the transplant games.
Past Fundraising Efforts
Transplant Games
Running for over 40 years, The Westfield Health British Transplant Games are a celebration of life.
Taking place in different host cities every Summer, the games see teams from hospitals across the UK come together to compete in a medley of sports.
The 4-day event attracts around 1000 transplant athletes and more than 1700 supporters.
About the Games: The Games are organised on behalf of Transplant Sport whose aim is to raise awareness of the need for organ donation, encourage transplant recipients to lead active lifestyles and show appreciation for, and remember their donors and their families.
The 2024 games were hosted in Nottingham and SEKPA were delighted to have funded some T-shirts for participants.
London Marathon 2024
Claire Allum-Antilles completed the run in 5 hours, 41 mins, 43 secs.
Her fundraising efforts raised over £1500 for SEKPA.
Fantastic, Claire
